Restaurants and cafes: a working system for TripAdvisor and Google reviews
Hospitality gets reviewed more than almost any other sector, with photos attached and emotions running warm in both directions. The volume makes a routine essential and a strategy possible.
The daily routine
Ten minutes each morning: read yesterday's reviews across Google and TripAdvisor, reply to everything from the day before, flag anything mentioning illness, allergy handling or staff conduct for the owner personally. Those three categories carry legal or licensing weight and deserve more than a template.
Replying in a hospitality voice
Diners forgive a bad night; they do not forgive a defensive owner. The reply pattern that works: thank, own the specific miss, say the fix, invite them back with a named person to ask for. Replies that argue about what the customer really ordered become screenshots.
The photo problem
Customer photos define your profile more than your own. If the top images are dim plates from 2023, the fix is operational: better lighting, plating worth shooting, and gentle prompts in the moments people already photograph.
Reading reviews as operations data
Cluster the content monthly: if "slow on Saturdays" appears four times, that is a rota decision. If three reviews name the same dish negatively, that is a menu decision. The restaurants that climb ratings treat reviews as a free mystery-shopper programme running every single service.
MyView watches every mention of your brand and tells you what needs a reply.
