Google Business Profile reviews: getting more without breaking the rules

Google reviews influence both your map ranking and the decision of everyone who finds you. Growing them is mostly a matter of asking properly, at scale, forever.

What is allowed

Asking customers for reviews is fine. Making it easy is fine: Google provides a direct review link for every profile, and a QR code on an invoice, van or counter card works well. Asking everyone is the key compliance point; filtering so only happy customers get the link, gating, is the practice UK regulators and Google both treat as misleading.

What works

What to avoid

Never buy reviews or swap them with other businesses; detection removes them and can suppress the profile. Do not review your own business or have staff do it from personal accounts. Do not offer incentives for reviews. And resist writing replies that argue; future customers read those exchanges as auditions for how you will treat them.

The compounding effect

Review count and recency feed local ranking, which feeds visibility, which feeds more customers to ask. Start the loop and protect it.
