The reputation audit: a one-afternoon health check for your brand
Before building any reputation programme, spend one honest afternoon finding out where you actually stand. The audit is unglamorous and clarifying in equal measure.
Hour one: search like a stranger
In a private browser window, search your business name, name plus "reviews", name plus your town, and your category plus your town. Record what page one shows: which profiles, which ratings, whose content, anything negative, and where you are absent. Page one is your shop window whether you dress it or not.
Hour two: the review estate
For each platform holding your reviews, Google, Trustpilot, sector sites, note the score, the count, the newest review's age, the worst recent review, and whether responses exist. Score yourself on the three buyer questions: healthy rating, credible volume, recent activity.
Hour three: the wider conversation
Search your name on Reddit, Facebook's public groups, and any sector forum. Check your own social comment sections for unanswered questions. Note every mention from the last year you never saw at the time; that number is your visibility gap.
Hour four: verdict and priorities
Write one page: where you stand, the three worst findings, the three highest-leverage fixes. Typical outcomes: claim and answer a neglected profile, clear the response debt, fix the review-asking habit. Date the page; it becomes your baseline, and re-running the audit quarterly turns it into a progress record.
MyView watches every mention of your brand and tells you what needs a reply.
